Ketoprofen helps to reduce pain and inflammation in the joints, back and muscles.

How does the patch work?

KetArtis ® patch, due to the penetration of ketoprofen into the underlying tissues, provides an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect at the application site, eliminating pain syndrome and reducing swelling associated with the inflammatory process. With joint syndrome, it causes a weakening of joint pain at rest and when moving, a decrease in "morning stiffness" 2.

How to use the patch?

Externally in the form of applications on the skin. KetArtis ® patch is applied to the skin over the painful area 2 times a day.

Do not apply the patch to the damaged skin surface. Do not use for more than 14 days, the duration of therapy depends on the severity and nature of the damage. You can not apply several patches at the same time.

If there is no improvement in the condition after 7 days and if the state of health worsens, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

When is the patch applied?

  • Muscle pain (due to sprains, overstrain, bruises, injuries)

KetArtis ® is a transdermal patch made of non-woven material with a uniformly applied adhesive layer, which contains NSAID ketoprofen 30 mg.

Ketoprofen belongs to the most well-studied and safe NSAIDs. In order to reduce adverse reactions, its dosage forms for topical use, including patches, have been developed.

KetArtis ® patch, due to the penetration of ketoprofen into the underlying tissues, provides an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect at the application site, eliminating pain syndrome and reducing swelling associated with the inflammatory process.

The effectiveness of the ketoprofen patch in the framework of clinical studies exceeded that of the ketoprofen gel even when used in lower doses and with a lower frequency of administration1, which made it possible to recommend it for the treatment of patients with inflammatory pain, for example, with osteoarthritis2 and rheumatoid arthritis3.

In a comparative study with diclofenac gel, ketoprofen patch provided a higher cure rate (64% vs 46%/, p = 0.004) on day 7 in patients with benign soft tissue lesions caused by sports exercises4.

A review of studies of the ketoprofen patch showed that with the transdermal route of administration, the drug creates the highest concentrations in the tissues adjacent to the application site, which remain there for a long time5.

Composition per patch: ketoprofen – 30 mg.

Description: rectangular patches with rounded edges, consisting of a base made of non-woven material (polyester).

The size of the patch: 70 x 100 mm (70 cm2).

Pharmacodynamics

Ketoprofen in the form of a transdermal patch has a local analgesic and anti-inflammatory (including decongestant) effect. With articular syndrome, it causes a weakening of joint pain at rest and during movement, a decrease in "morning stiffness".

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, ketoprofen is absorbed extremely slowly, while its concentration in the blood plasma is very low, and in the adjacent affected tissues is sufficient to reduce pain and inflammation.

  • Back pain in inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the spine (sciatica, osteoarthritis, lumbago, sciatica);

  • Muscle pain (due to sprains, overstrain, bruises, injuries);

  • Inflammation and swelling of soft tissues and joints due to injuries and rheumatic diseases (tendovaginitis, bursitis, lesions of periarticular tissues).

It is not recommended to use the patch in children under the age of 18 (efficacy and safety have not been studied).
